We're shining the spotlight on a parrot species each month, and for August, it's the hauntingly beautiful Dracula Parrot. 🦇🦜

Also known as the Pesquet’s Parrot, this striking bird has jet-black feathers, a vulture-like face, and vibrant crimson chest plumage earning it the nickname “Dracula.”

📏 Size:
About 18 inches (46 cm) from beak to tail.

🎂 Lifespan:
Up to 25 years in the wild.

🧠 Special Traits:
It’s one of the few parrots that feeds almost exclusively on figs. Their featherless face helps keep them clean while eating sticky fruit!

🌍 Native To:
The cloud forests of Papua New Guinea.
